Solar panels and battery storage are the single largest non-geothermal incentive in the Home Renovation Savings™ program, at up to $10,000 combined. That is a meaningful offset on a typical residential array, but it does not by itself decide whether the project pays back.
The economics of residential solar depend heavily on how your utility credits exported energy. Net metering, net billing, and flat export rates produce very different results for the same array and the same $10,000 rebate.
Roof orientation, shading, and available unobstructed area set a hard ceiling on production. A site assessment with a shading analysis is far more informative than any online estimate.
Batteries are usually justified by backup power and by shifting usage away from peak pricing rather than by raw savings. Be clear about which goal matters most before sizing storage, since the rebate is capped regardless of how large the system gets.
Ask any installer for a production estimate with its assumptions written down, plus warranty terms for panels, inverter, and workmanship separately — and for confirmation in writing of exactly how much rebate they expect your system to qualify for.
